In the videogame Dark Souls 2, the player can enter a coffin on a beach. That coffin seals the lid of itself and then goes out further into the water. The screen fades to black, and then the coffin washes back up on the shore, but the player character has their gender changed ( link ). I noticed something interesting in the Hebrew in the book of Jonah. The fish changes gender or sex. In Jonah 1:17, God sends a male fish to swallow Jonah. Then 3 days and nights pass. After three days and nights, Jonah "wakes up" in a female fish. There, he prays. His prayer consists of many past tense and perfect verbs. This means that Jonah seems to be reviewing a lot of what already happened over the course of the 3 days and 3 nights. Was the fish male or female, or some transition during that time?
